Mavrodaphne
Mavrodaphne, meaning black laurel in Greek, is indigenous to Achaea region in Northern Peloponnese. It produces almost opaque, dark coloured red wines and represents flavours of caramel, chocolate, coffee, raisins and plums.
Muscat Blanc
Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains is a white wine grape of Greek origin that is a member of the Muscat family of Vitis vinifera. Its name comes from its characteristic small berry size and tight clusters. While technically a white grape, there are strains of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains vines that produce berries that are pink or reddish-brown. The same vine could potentially produce berries of one colour one year and a different colour the next. Variants, where the differing grape colour is stable, are typically classified as separate grape varieties Muscat Rouge à Petit Grains for red skin colour and Muscat Rose à Petit Grains for pink skin colour.

The Katsikostas family wine history began in 1946 when grandfather Luke Katsikostas started producing wine from the indigenous varieties found in Aigialeia, Achaia region of the Peloponnese. The wines, produced with the scarce means of the time, were vinified and stored in wooden barrels in the underground cellars of the family’s wine shop in the port of Aigio.
Third generation Katsikostas siblings, Sosanna and Luke, launched the new winery in 2004 after the completion of Sosanna’s studies in Oenology at the University of Bordeaux, Toulouse and Reims in France. Their goal is to create high-quality wines from the indigenous varieties in their region. The new winery has state of the art equipment to produce fine handcrafted wines that express the unique characteristics of Aigialeia terroir and its grape varieties, including the rare Sideritis variety.
